Whay are some of my employees omitted from my report?

Q) When I try to processing a report, WizMag reports that there are employees missing required information. When I open one of them to edit the missing information, nothing appears to be missing. How can I fix this?

A) This is caused by the Country for the employee having a value that is not in the list of countries and therefore appears empty. Change the country to Blank or United States for each employee with this issue and recreate the report file.

Installing WizMag-E W-2 2007 or WizMag-E 1099-MISC 2007 on Vista

Before installing either of our WizMag programs for the 2007 tax year, User Account Control (UAC) must be disabled in Vista. This allows AccuWage 2007 to install properly and for Microsoft's SQL Server Compact Edition to register itself with Windows. After WizMag is installed UAC can be reenabled.

For steps on how to disable User Account Control, please click on the link below:

Disabling UAC in Windows Vista

If you have installed WizMag without disabling UAC first, uninstall WizMag and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition, disable UAC by following the steps in the link above then reinstall the program.

Having UAC enabled during the installation of WizMag results in the following issues:

  • Error 1721 when installing Accuwage
  • When starting WizMag a message will appear that it is unable to load the .NET application data framework.

Slow data retrieval with CertPay

Q) When I retrieve data in CertPay using Peachtree, it takes a very long time to update information.  What causes this and how can I fix it?

A) This is caused by a file locking issue in Peachtree.  To prevent the issue from occurring, make sure that the company is closed on all workstations before attempting to retrieve data.

The issue was reproduced in the following test:

  • Three computers were used - all were running Windows XP Professional and were members of a domain.
  • Peachtree Quantum 2008 was installed.
  • One of the computers was set up as a server for Quantum.
  • The other two were set up to look in a shared folder on the server for the company data.
  • All three computers had the test company open.
    • On the server the employee list was displayed.
    • On the first workstation the employee list was displayed and an employee was opened for editing.
    • On the second workstation with CertPay installed the Default Employee information window was opened.
  • When the Default Employee information window was not opened, retrieving data in CertPay did not slow down.  Once it was opened updating data slowed to a crawl because certain files were locked.
  • There may be other conditions that would cause undesired file locking, but this is one example.

Missing Cash Account when uploading a Sales Journal Entry

Q) When I try to upload a Sales Journal/Invoice into Peachtree I get a message that the Cash Account is not present.  How do I fix this?

A) When this message appears it means that there is no default cash account assigned.  To set the cash account, click on Tasks and Receipts in Peachtree.  A window will appear asking you to select a cash account.  Once you choose a cash account and click OK, close the Receipts window in Peachtree and update Customers in BMS.

Installing CertPay 5 on Windows Vista

Q) Are there any issues installing CertPay Wizard v5 on Windows Vista?

A) There are two issues that are due to the use of InstallShield to create the setup program.

The first one is that a prerequisite for CertPay is SQL Server 2005. Windows Vista requires Service Pack 2 of this program. SP2 can be installed after SP1 is downloaded and installed by CertPay or you can download SP2 and install it by clicking here.

The second issue is that InstallShield can not extract files within the Windows folder. A screenshot is shown below.

Certpay Installation Message

If this occurs on your computer, click OK. You will then be asked to specify the location of the installation package as shown below.

Specify Location of installation package

On the machine used here for testing, the location of the installation package was c:\doctemp\edoc0. Specify that location and click OK to continue the installation.

This issue can be avoided by disabling User Account Control (UAC) before installing CertPay, then enabling UAC afterwards.

Error 3022 appears when printing the hourly report

Q) When printing the hourly report in CertPay Wizard v4(PT) or v1(QB) an error 3022 appears.  How can I fix this?

A)  There are two causes of this error. The first one is caused by an employee having more than one check for a given payroll number.  To correct this, click on the Exclude Checks button on the Payroll Number Step on the Step-By-Step Wizard or by clicking Tasks-Exclude Checks.

A list of checks that can be processed will appear.  If you see an employee listed more than once that means that there is more than one check for that employee.  All but one check for that employee will need to be excluded and the report will run without errors.

The second cause of the error occurs with older releases fo CertPay Wizard v4 for Peachtree.  If there are multiple tickets for the same task, the same job, the same pay level and the same employee in CertPay and those pay levels are set to the same type in Certpay the error would appear. To correct this you will need to download and install the latest version of CertPay Wizard v4 from our web site.

Primary key violation when importing payroll numbers from an older version of CertPay Wizard

Q) When importing payroll numbers from an older version of CertPay, I get a Primary Key violation.  What causes this and how can I get around it?

A) This issue is caused when a payroll number in an older version of CertPay is not a numeric value after stripping out the payroll number prefix.

As an example, if your payroll number was 2005-33-888-333 and no prefix is used, CertPay has to determine a numeric value to use for the payroll number in version 5.  If for some reason the payroll number it calculates matches an existing payroll number the primary key violation appears.

Release 5.0.0.8 resolves this issue by stripping all non-numeric characters from the payroll number after removing the prefix.  If the resulting number is too large to use, the internal number used in the older version of CertPay is used instead.

Not all contracts appear when importing from an older version of CertPay

Q) I have imported data from an older version of CertPay into version 5.  When I go to the Process Wizard, only a few of them appear.  Why does this happen?

A) In order for CertPay v5 to show a contract in the Process Wizard, the job that the contract is based on must be present in its database file.  If it is not, the contract is not displayed.

One solution would be to close the Process Wizard, retrieve Job information and display the Process Wizard again.  If this does not resolve the issue the jobs will need to be added to your accounting package and refreshed in CertPay v5.
